The Mississippi Delta Blues Festival, the largest festival in Latin America totally focused on the blues and its aspects, lands in Rio de Janeiro for the first time.
The place chosen for the 1st edition of the MDBF is Hub RJ in Santo Cristo.
The main editions of the Festival will be reissued, and in 2019 the theme will be “Bottle Trees Edition” as it will center on the “bottle trees”, which were widely sighted in rural Mississippi of the last century, and whose origins can be traced back to to Africa.
The Festival began in 2008, when the idea of promoting a fraternization among friends, clients and artists that passed through the Mississippi Delta Blues Bar (Caxias do Sul / RS) during the year, and which in its first edition was attracted by an international attraction of high level: the legend Magic Slim.
The idea worked so well that in 2009 the need was felt for it to be repeated, and so it went year after year, and the MDBF achieved the prestige it has today.
In 2017, considering the music scene in Rio and attending the requests of countless blues fans, the Mississippi Delta Blues Bar opened its branch in the Harbor Zone of Rio de Janeiro, also leading to the production of the 1st MDBF RJ.
